So far, a total of 120 Year 7-9 students have enrolled for the Academic Stream.
As part of the registration process, a briefing session was delivered yesterday by Matt Letham, the Principal of Sports School.
After the briefing, parents and students of Year 8 and Year 9 toured the school to take a closer look at the infrastructure.
The year, Sports School holds two learning streams – the Sports Stream for students with sports talent and the Academic Stream for students who have excelled in the Primary School Assessment (PSR) results and those selected from the school’s catchment area.
In addition, students from the Academic Stream with interests and talents in the field of sports have the opportunity to change their stream to sports.
All students at the school will follow the curriculum under the National Education System for the 21st Century (SPN21).
Among the goals of the Sports School is to enhance the image and performance of the school by improving the students’ ability and competence in academics and sports.
It also aims at optimising the use of existing resources and facilities at the Sports School.
The supervision and control of the Sports School has moved from the Co-Curriculum Education Department to the Schools Department of the Ministry of Education.
