THE International School Brunei (ISB) Swimming team comprising 22 students aged nine to 17 years left the country for Bangkok yesterday to compete in the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) Swimming Championships 2018.
The swimming meet is hosted by Bangkok Patana School, the British International School in Thailand. More than 550 swimmers will be participating from international schools in Asia including China, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia. The 2017 FOBISIA Swimming Championships was hosted by ISB where its team won third place.
According to ISB head coach, Jeremy Salisibar, “The team will go for a better medal haul as well as personal bests in the competition.
“Swimmers from Thailand as well as South Korea and China will be our strongest competitors.”
On the success of the ISB swimming team, the head coach said, “It came from the passion, hard work and dedication of the students. They have been training at least five times a week. Some swimmers even train twice a day.”
The two-day championships will kick off today and will see ISB’s athletes in action alongside teams from 16 other international schools.
The ISB team will return to Brunei on Monday.
