AS PART of its efforts in looking after the welfare of the people, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah yesterday handed over assistance to 205 students from 66 families across the country for the 2018 schooling session.
The donations were presented in the form of coupons by Dato Paduka Haji Idris bin Haji Abas, a member of the Yayasan Board of Directors at the Yayasan Complex in Bandar Seri Begawan.
It was the 9th batch of students that received the school assistance yesterday. In December 2017, the assistance was given to the 7th batch comprising 820 students, while assistance was given to the 8th batch on January 19, 2018.
Pengiran Norhanani binti Pengiran Sabli, who received the assistance on behalf of her children, said she felt grateful for the contribution by Yayasan, adding that it would lessen her burden in buying the school essentials.
Yayasan was established with the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on October 5, 1992 in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne.
It was established as a charity platform of His Majesty and members of the royal family to provide assistance to those in need as a sign of care and love towards the people aside from helping to build a prosperous and harmonious nation.
