WITH the launching of the Chinese edition of ‘Melayu Islam Beraja: Suatu Pendekatan’ (Malay Islamic Monarchy: A Closer Understanding) in October last year, a delegation from Chung Hwa Middle School Bandar Seri Begawan (CHMS BSB) presented a contribution of $5,000 to the writer of the book Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Mohd Zain bin Haji Serudin.
The event was held at the residence of Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Mohd Zain in Jalan Pasir Berakas yesterday.
The event was held to express appreciation to the writer for his permission to fully translate his book to Mandarin with the aim of promoting the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) concept to the local Chinese citizens as well as foreigners and tourists.
YB Ong Tiong Oh, member of the Legislative Council (LegCo) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CHMS BSB said the book is quite comprehensive, covering language, history and background of Brunei culture.
“The books have been distributed to schools and available for purchase at CHMS BSB. About 3,000 copies have been printed,” said YB Ong Tiong Oh.
Meanwhile, Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Mohd Zain said with the Chinese edition of the book, he believed it will bring great benefits especially for the Chinese community in Brunei, to further understand the MIB concept.
“In my view, it shows that the Chinese community is showing their loyalty to the benevolent and wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, who is leading this country under the MIB concept,” he added.
