THE Mosque Affairs Department in the Belait District, in cooperation with Kampong Sungai Liang Mosque Takmir Committee members and the Village Consultative Council (MPK) of Kampong Sungai Liang, carried out its ‘Mulianya Berbagi’ community programme at the Kampong Sungai Liang Mosque yesterday.
Joining the programme was YB Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, Penghulu of Mukim Liang, and a Legislative Council member.
A Subuh prayer and Surah Al-Waqi’ah recitation started off the day’s activities.
Participants then did a warm-up before going for a walk through the surrounding areas, stopping by the residences of less fortunate individuals to hand them and their families donations, as well as spring clean their house compounds. Donations were also handed to Sungai Liang Primary School to aid their less fortunate students.
The participants then went on to have breakfast with orphans living in Kampong Sungai Liang.
The programme, aimed primarily at forging closer ties with the local communities and the Kampong Sungai Liang Mosque, also served as an opportunity to raise awareness on the various activities held by the mosque, in the hope of attracting public interest in helping the mosque’s efforts through the contribution of donations and aid to the mosque as well as its Takmir committee members.
The programme is an ongoing effort involving various mosques across the Belait District, and is set to be carried out in mosques and villages in the surrounding area in the future.
