LADIES from South Korea and China are coming to Brunei! They will compete with Bruneian ladies in the ‘000 Brunei Ladies Open’ at The Empire Hotel & Country Club from March 17-19.
Yesterday saw the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) between Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha bin Pengiran Metassan, President of the Brunei Darussalam Golfing Association (BDGA) and Jennifer Lee, Managing Director of China Ladies Professional Golf Association (CLPGA).
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Tourism) at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali witnessed the signing.
The signing with CLPGA will sanction China’s ladies professional golfers to participate in the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) tournament, where similar signing between KLPGA and BDGA took place January 15 for the ‘000 Brunei Ladies Open’.
BDGA is proud that both KLPGA and CLPGA have selected Brunei as the host country of the prestigious tournament. Following the MoU, the host country will host the tournament for three years.
The three-day tournament will have live broadcast, where viewers will witness first-class golfing, as well as admire The Empire Hotel & Country Club’s golf course.
With top ranked Brunei ladies golfers participating in the tournament, BDGA also hopes it will encourage more local participants in the coming years, creating a new generation of local professional golfers, directly helping Brunei to compete on par internationally.
