THE eclipse is one of the many occurrences that shows the majesty and greatness of Allah the Almighty just as the sun and the moon are one of the signs of his power with the turning of morning into night.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) encouraged Muslims to perform good deeds such as supplication, remembrance, prayers, takbir recitation, alms giving and asking for forgiveness in the event of an eclipse.
This message was delivered in the special Khutbah for the mass Sunnat Al-Khusuf prayer at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital last night.
Muslims were also urged to halt in evil and immoral activities as well as polytheism which go against the teachings of Islam.
All mosques, suraus and prayer halls nationwide also held the mass Sunnat Al-Khusuf prayer simultaneously. The mass Isyak prayer and Sunnat Al-Khusuf prayer at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque was led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Hamidon bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Abdul Hamid.
Also present were Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, Acting Perma-nent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; and Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administrative and Financial Affairs) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
