THE Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, yesterday visited Kampong Rambai Religious School in the Tutong District affected by flash floods following continuous heavy rain. The school is also used by the Ministry of Education.
Also present were Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), and senior officers from the ministry.
The deputy minister and his delegation were briefed on the disaster mitigation operation in the district by Lieutenant Awangku Haji Naqiuddin bin Pengiran Haji Mohammad Ali, who is stationed at the Incident Control Centre (ICP) and highlighted the continuous heavy downpour that have caused flash floods, landslides and fallen trees.
The deputy minister toured the school, where he was welcomed by Cikgu Hajah Norhani binti Haji Sania, the school’s Headmistress.
The deputy minister told the media that the MoRA takes appropriate action and discusses with relevant agencies to tackle and control any problems relating to any possibilities during the uncertain weather condition and unexpected floods.
The visit was also to take a look at the welfare of the school workforce affected by the floods.
Besides Kampong Rambai Religious School, Kampong Benutan Religious School and Kampong Benutan Mosque were also affected.
