SAMUDRA RSC president Kassim bin Haji Ibrahim has attributed the inclusion of several players who were actively playing in 2016 to his team’s rise in performance in the Coneli Veteran League 2017/18.

Samudra enjoyed a steady ascent to 7th place in the table following their 2-1 win over Mulu FC last weekend thanks to goals from Boy Rahman and Saufi.

“I am very happy with Samudra’s win over RSC and helped us climb to 7th in the table. The outcome of excellent cooperation is Samudra’s success in beating Mulu FC,” said Kassim.

“Our performances in the last five games have been down to the inclusion of several players who were actively playing in 2016.

“Their presence has helped fill the void in midfield which I most needed. Other than that, the presence of import from Semarahan has strengthened the defence in Samudra RSC.

“With the availability of these players, it has changed the pattern of play of Samudra RSC,” the president said.

The Brunei-based outfit were outside of the top 10 last month but have slowly made their way up.

“Certainly, it cannot be denied that our involvement in the Coneli Veteran League is to provide stiff competition to teams in Sarawak.

“Even though it is too late to provide a challenge to finish in the top three, I am pleased with the performances and displays of Samudra RSC.”

Kassim also emphasised that they will give a similar stern test to all opponents in the cup competition.

“With the players we have, Samudra RSC will give competition in the Miri FA Cup expected to start on March 17.

“To be among the best teams, I am satisfied with our players who are determined to give great competition in the new season,” he said.

Kassim also expressed his hopes for all players to maintain their stamina and their momentum in winning matches.
