DEPUTY Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar and his delegation yesterday visited two flood-struck mosques, before meeting with victims taking shelter at the Tanjong Maya Mosque.
The delegation first visited the Kampong Bukit Mosque to observe the clean up works being carried out by officials from the Mosque Affairs Department of Tutong District, villagers and mosque personnel. Next, the delegation headed to the Kampong Layong Mosque.
The deputy minister then headed to Tanjong Maya Mosque to speak with three families who sought shelter at the multipurpose hall of the mosque after their homes had been inundated.
The deputy minister handed over contributions in the form of daily necessities to these families.
It is hoped that through the visit, the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) will be able to further identify the needs and offer contributions to the affected mosques and individuals.
The visiting delegation comprised Legislative Council members YB Haji Umarali bin Esung and YB Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong; Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof; Tutong District Officer Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain and senior officials from MoRA.
