A BIG crowd of eager students and parents yesterday were seen flocking to the first day of the two-day ‘Yes2Malaysia’ Education Fair at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.

The event is hosted by the Higher Education Unit of Malaysia (REXPO), in collaboration with MEG Educational Services to bring Education Malaysia Global Assist Initiative to the Sultanate, and features more than 30 top universities and colleges from both East and West Malaysia offering a variety of undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.

According to Ahmad Rezal Chan, a senior partner at REXPO, the turn out this year was even greater than that of previous years.

Also present at the fair was Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) as the education fair’s strategic partners to help advocate education in Malaysia, and provide financial assistance to parents who want to send their children to Malaysia.

Ahmad Rezal also explained that the participating universities comprise public universities, private universities and branch campuses that are either from the United Kingdom or Australia based in Malaysia.

He further explained that the Education Malaysia Global Assist Initiative helps students not only through course counselling, but also in getting scholarships and bursaries to Malaysian universities, where these universities may offer special arrangements to interested students.

“We also help parents with financial planning so their children who are currently in high school may obtain a Master’s degree through a pathway in Malaysia,” he said.

“This initiative also helped teachers with invitations to attend educational programmes in Malaysia last year.”

The senior partner also said that REXPO and MEG planned to carry out more activities throughout this year under the Education Malaysia Global Assist Initiative campaign, and encourage individuals to visit them throughout the year if they have any inquiries regarding studying in Malaysia.

Ahmad Rezal also stated that they are under the purview of the Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council (BDNAC), and he encouraged students to seek the approval of the council before pursuing further studies at their university of choice in order to avoid accreditation issues.
