THE Government of the Republic of South Korea has placed great priority in boosting its relationship with Asean member countries including Brunei Darussalam, which will help open up business opportunities in the Sultanate for South Korea and vice versa.
This was highlighted by Cho Won-myung, the South Korean Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, in his remarks during a get-together for the Korean Lunar New Year celebrations, also known as ‘Seollal’, at the Embassy of the Republic of South Korea in Brunei Darussalam.
In his remarks, Cho Won-myung also conveyed Korean Lunar New Year wishes to guests at the event.
The annual get-together also aimed to foster closer ties among the Korean community in Brunei Darussalam.
Some 150 Koreans residing in the country attended yesterday’s celebration, dining and enjoying the traditional Korean rice cake soup known as ‘Tteokguk’, which is one of the must-have traditional foods for the Korean Lunar New Year.
Children and teenagers received fortune money and bowed to their elders at the event, a customary practice during the Korean Lunar New Year celebrations.
