PADUKA Seri Begawan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Primary School (SR PSBSOAS) held a ‘Smart Reader Day’ for its students from Pre-school to Year 6 at Kampong Pandan, Kuala Belait recently.
The event was aimed at promoting proactive reading among students and developing literacy. A total of 416 students participated in activities such as Picture to Story Match, Alphabetical Order, Rhyming Words, Monster Game, Code Breaker, Scavenger Hunt, and Origami.
The event was enlivened with a ‘Book Character Class Parade’ where students and teachers were in superhero costumes and traditional Malay outfits.
The Headmistress of SR PSBSOAS, Hajah Nor Zurina binti Haji Assim, oversaw the event.
Thirty students were presented with book prizes for their costumes during the parade.
The event is the first school activity for SR PSB SOAS conducted by the English Department. The Mathematics, Bahasa Melayu, and Science departments are also planning to conduct school activities for the academic year.
