UNIVERSITI Teknologi Brunei (UTB) held a ceremony to witness the handing over of responsibilities from outgoing members of the UTB Student Representative Council (MPPUTB) to the newly appointed members of the 2018/2019 session at the university’s multipurpose hall yesterday.
Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, the Vice-Chancellor of UTB, was the guest of honour at the ceremony. Also in attendance were UTB Principal Officers along with the university’s staff and students, and family members of the Student Representative Council.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a speech by Siti Nur Syazwani binti Haji Sabtu, the former President of MPPUTB 2017/2018.
The ceremonial handing over of duties was carried out by Siti Nur Syazwani to the new President of MPPUTB 2018/2019, Abdul Mu’izz bin Haji Zaini, who later delivered his speech.
The guest of honour presented certificates of appreciation to the former council members and appointment letters to the newly appointed members of MPPUTB 2018/2019. The new members recited their oath, led by the new president.
The new members were elected by their peers and went through stages of selection processes conducted by previous session members and selected university staff.
UTB Student Representative Council comprises 16 members: five Supreme Council members and 11 Heads of Executive Committees (EXCOs).
