STARTING today, the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults will be held for three consecutive nights at the International Convention Centre (ICC), under the theme of ‘Al-Quran: the Source of Fair Leadership’.
A full-dress rehearsal was held yesterday at the ICC, witnessed by the Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar.
Also in attendance were Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Major Events in Islamic Calendar for 1439 Hijrah/ 2018; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana Pengiran Haji Alauddin bin Pengiran Paduka Tuan Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, the Grand Chamberlain; Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; and Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Chairman of the Working Committee of the Al-Quran Reading Competition.
This year, 12 Qaris and Qariahs will compete in the Al-Quran reading finals.
The Qaris are Haji Muhammad Albi bin Haji Ibrahim; Muhammad bin Ali; Haji Awang Muhammad Fikri bin Haji Metussin; Haji Nasrul Fakhri bin Haji Yahya; Zul Hafiz bin Haji Tengah; and Ahmad Zul-Waqar bin Haji Suhaili.
The Qariahs are Hajah Norfaizah binti Haji Emran; Dayangku Fauziah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri; Dayangku Siti Ummi Syazana binti Pengiran Haji Marjuki; Hajah Norhafidzah binti Haji Hassan; Siti Zahrina binti Abdul Wahab; and Siti Nornabilah binti Major (Rtd) Haji Abdul Rahman.
