THE Brunei Darussalam Accounting Standards Council (BDASC) hosted a briefing at the Kuala Belait Convention Hall yesterday, to raise more awareness about BDAS among the public, particularly mukim penghulus, villages heads, local business owners and government officers.
Present to oversee the briefing was Chairani binti Haji Sulaiman, the Director at the Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
Among the panellists was Noorazwan bin Othman, a Relationship Officer of Bank Usahawan Berhad, who briefed the attendees on its roles and functions in helping to create a more conducive business environment in Brunei Darussalam.
Having started operations earlier this year, Bank Usahawan Berhad aims to provide accessible financing services which are Syariah-compliant to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
In addition to promoting awareness on the BDAS issued on January 1, by the BDASC, for the adoption of non-public interest entities in Brunei Darussalam, the briefing was also an opportunity to explore its features, including ensuring the uniformity and consistency of financial reporting in Brunei Darussalam.
