THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) yesterday detained Jefrai anak Kueh, a 30-year-old Malaysian, for alleged involvement in online gambling activities.
The police are also seeking public assistance on providing information on two other Malaysians: Yoesua anak Kueh, 24, and holder of passport K35483590; and Donny Jinih, 20, and holder of passport K40108481.
According to a RBPF statement, the Brunei-Muara Police District – through the Muara Police Station – received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked at a house belonging to Sallehwana Remadzan bin Haji Awang Abdullah at RPN Kampong Tanah Jambu at 12.16 yesterday afternoon.
Assistant investigators from the Muara Police Station arrived at the scene to find a Malaysian-registered Proton Wira parked at the house.
A search of the house led to the discovery of nine laptops containing the SCR888 gambling programme believed to be used to run the gambling activity, and the detaining of Jefrai.
The case is under investigation under Section 4 of the Common Gambling Houses Act, Chapter 28.
Meanwhile, the Gambling Suppression and Anti-Vice Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the RBPF detained three Malaysians (two males and a female) during a gambling bust on a commercial building in Gadong Central on Monday night. The police seized six computers containing the SCR888 program.
Senior Superintendent Haji Mohd Fadzillah bin Haji Ismail, the Acting Deputy Director at the CID, was at the scene to provide a statement.
The case is under investigation under Section 4 of the Common Gambling Houses Act, Chapter 28.
The RBPF advises the public not to get involved in gambling activities. Stern action will be taken on those who organise such activities, customers and individuals at the premises of the gambling activities.
