THE finals of the 58th National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults 1439 Hijrah are progressing with the second day yesterday seeing the recitation of four Qaris and four Qariahs, at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
Present to witness the competition was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.
Upon arrival at the ICC, His Royal Highness was received by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Executive Committee for National Level Major Islamic Events Celebration and National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults 1439H/2018M along with other committee members.
The ceremony commenced with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, the Chief Syar’ie Judge.
The competition then began with the recitation of Al-Quran by two Qaris and two Qariahs.
During the break, the event continued with a special Al-Quran recitation by three local Qaris – Dato Paduka Haji Yussof bin Bakar, runner-up in the International Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1991 and third place winner of the same competition in 1981 and 1988; Mudim Haji Metasim bin Haji Metussin, third place winner in International Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran held in Kuala Lumpur in 1991; and Pengiran Muhd Adibul Amin bin Pengiran Haji Marjuki, runner-up in the International Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran held in Kuala Lumpur in 2016 and 2017.
The competition then resumed with recitation by four other participants – two Qaris and two Qariahs.
Participants reciting on the second day were Mohammad Albi bin Haji Ibrahim; Dayangku Fauziah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri; Mohammad Zul-Hafiz bin Awang Tengah, Hajah Nurfaezah binti Haji Emran; Haji Nasrul Fakhri bin Haji Yahya; Hajah Nurhapidzah binti Haji Hassan; Haji Mohammad Fikri bin Haji Metussin; and Siti Zahrina binti Abdul Wahab.
The competition will concluded at the same venue today where the results of the contest will be announced.
