THE Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, and a member of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Committee of Governors, received three separate donations yesterday, for the assistance of those whose homes were affected by last month’s floods.
One of the donations came from the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, which was handed over to the Minister of Home Affairs by Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Defence II and Vice Chairman I of the Yayasan Board of Directors.
A financial aid of $24,000 was handed over by Lim Hong Huai, the Singapore High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam and the President of the Singapore Association in Brunei Darussalam, while Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin contributed $8,000 for the relief of the flood victims.
Among those present at the ceremony was Dato Paduka Eddie bin Dato Paduka Haji Sunny, the Managing Director of Yayasan.
Two houses were affected by flash floods in the Brunei-Muara District while 11 calls were received in the Tutong District on instances of flooding.
The Belait District received 16 calls of houses being submerged, while the Temburong District recorded five.
