Professional golfers set to tee off in Richard Mille tomorrow

THE Richard Mille Brunei Championships (RMBC), sanctioned by the Asian Development Tour (ADT) organised in conjunction with the 34th National Day celebration will offer a prize purse of US$60,000 and looks set to tee off tomorrow with an exciting pool of international professional golfers including the ADT’s Reigning Order of Merit champion Pannakorn Uthaipas.

Other top golfers to take part are Namchok Tantipokhakul, Poosit Supupramai and Kasidit Lepkurte from Thailand, Mathiam Keyser from South Africa, John Michael O’Toole from US, Oskar Arvidsson from Sweden and others.

Leading Brunei’s charge in the tournament is Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Hakeem. The other local golfers who will be parting with the professional golfers are Mohammed Qawiem Fakhri bin Haji Aslimon, Mohammad Qazzri Fakhri bin Haji Aslimon, Awangku Muhd Syakir bin Pengiran Haji Alli and Lai Suan Loong who are from the previous Brunei SEA Games Squad as well as Haji Mohd Faiz bin Haji Damit and Pengiran Wirahadikusuma bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Salleh.

Participants will earn Official World Golf Ranking points through their performances in the championship. RMBC is promoted by SPS Innovative Enterprise, and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism; and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The opening ceremony for the Richard Mille Brunei Championships is set to take place today and will be officiated by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.

The inaugural The Richard Mille Brunei Championships will be played at The Empire Hotel & Country Club’s golf course, which is designed by Jack Nicklaus.
