THE Joint Commander Armed Forces in French Polynesia and Commander of the French Polynesian and Pacific Maritime Zones, Rear Admiral Denis Bertrand yesterday made a courtesy call to the Minister of Defence II, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof at the Bolkiah Garisson.
Rear Admiral Denis Bertrand during the official visit to the Ministry of Defence also paid a courtesy call to Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral defence and military cooperation and exchanged views on regional developments of mutual interest.
They were also delighted to note that the 12th Joint Defence Working Committee (JDWC) was a success in continuing the bilateral interactions consisting of high level visits, professional exchanges, trainings and courses.
As part of the programme, Rear Admiral Denis Bertrand also visited the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Headquarters and the Naval Training Centre, RBN, and delivered a talk on ‘Security in the Pacific’ at the 8th Command and Staff Course held in the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
