THE Chief of the Army Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, NI (M), arrived in the Sultanate yesterday on a three-day official visit.
Upon his arrival in the Sultanate, he was received by Brunei Government officials, High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam, Major General (Rtd) Tariq Rashid Khan and embassy staff at the airport.
In the evening, the Pakistan High Commissioner hosted a banquet in honour of the visiting Pakistan Army Chief at The Rizqun International Hotel.
Also attending the dinner were the Minister of Defence II, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof; Commanders of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Brunei Land Force, Royal Brunei Navy, Royal Brunei Air Force, Joint Force; Ambassadors of China, Saudi Arabia and Turkey and High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam.
The Pakistan High Commissioner highlighted various facets of strong existing bilateral relations between the two countries. He hoped that the Pakistan Army Chief’s visit to Brunei Darussalam is indicative of warmth and importance of existing bilateral relations and hoped the visit will help lay a strong foundation to further strengthen bilateral ties, especially in the field of defence.
