EIGHTEEN firefighters succeeded in dousing a fire that broke out at a house in Kampong Pancha Delima yesterday.
According to a statement from the Fire and Rescue Department, an emergency call on the fire was received at 8.05am. Four fire engines from the Berakas Fire Station and a female operation unit were dispatched to the scene.
Led by SO Jasni, the firefighters controlled the fire within 10 minutes.
The house is owned by a local woman and is home to four residents. No casualties were reported from the fire. The amount of damages is still under investigation.
The Fire and Rescue Department reminded the public to not overload electrical sockets in their homes and ensure that electrical wirings are in good condition and have their inspections done by accredited companies.
Every home should be equipped with fire safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire blankets and smoke detectors.
The public should contact the Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre at 995 for any emergencies and provide accurate information for a swift response.
