Sultan in Singapore for ASEAN Summit

HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday arrived in the Republic of Singapore to attend the 32nd ASEAN Summit.

Present at the VIP Complex of Changi International Airport in Singapore to greet His Majesty was Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore.

Also present to greet His Majesty were Dato Seri Paduka Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II and Haji Awang Saifulbahri bin Haji Mansor, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Singapore.

His Majesty then boarded a motorcade towards a renowned hotel in Singapore where the monarch would reside during the summit which started yesterday and ends today.

This year’s ASEAN Summit, which carries the theme ‘Resilient and Innovative’, reflects the host country’s vision of ASEAN as an association united in the face of increasing global challenges in the region.

The summit will gather the ASEAN Heads of State and Government to discuss dynamic and current matters for the well-being of communities in the region.

Earlier, prior to His Majesty’s departure from Istana Nurul Iman, a Doa Selamat was recited by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.

Present at His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight Hangar in Rimba to bid farewell to the monarch were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria; Cabinet ministers; members of the Privy Council; deputy ministers; the Commissioner of Police and the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
