HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning held bilateral meetings with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore and Chairman of ASEAN, Lee Hsien Loong and the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Win Myint.
The meetings were held at Shangri-La Hotel, Republic of Singapore.
Upon arrival at the Azalea 1 Room, His Majesty was greeted by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore and Chairman of ASEAN.
During the bilateral meeting, His Majesty and Lee Hsien Loong discussed current issues and exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual concern including cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore.
Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore were established in January 1984.
The two countries cooperate extensively in various fields including defence, finance, trade and investment, tourism, health and education, and share long-standing arrangements such as the Currency Interchangeability Agreement.
In a separate meeting, His Majesty and the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar discussed shared views on regional and international matters, including cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar were established on September 21, 1993.
