A WIDE variety of products will be on display with unbelievable discounts on offer at the annual Jualan Aneka Brunei 2018, a much-awaited shopping fair for thousands who wish not only to make wonderful deals but also to contribute to nation building by supporting the local economy.

The Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE), Prime Minister’s Office, yesterday announced that its Department of Competition and Consumer Affairs will organise the sales festival from May 9 to July 1.

The objective of the Jualan Aneka Brunei 2018 is to give a fresh impetus to the country’s economy by encouraging members of the public to shop locally, taking advantage of the attractive festival prices on offer.

“The 54-day long Jualan Aneka Brunei 2018 is hoped to contribute towards increasing the country’s economic activities by boosting local consumption through business activities and encouraging the public to shop locally in preparation for the upcoming Hari Raya festive season,” a press statement issued by JPKE said.

Participants of the sales festival will be offering a minimum discount of 20 per cent on at least 50 per cent of the goods displayed at their business premises during the event. However, businesses are encouraged to offer better deals with creative and attractive offers to help draw shopper traffic.

All items on discount are required to be clearly and appropriately price-tagged during the period of Jualan Aneka Brunei 2018 as per regulation 9(1) of the Price Control (Cheap Sale Price) Regulations 2012, JPKE informed.

Participating businesses will be offered an added platform to reach out and gain visibility through ‘SmartConsumer’ mobile application to advertise their offers to generate increased sales. The application can be downloaded free on Apple Store and Google Playstore.

Participants of the sales event will receive a participation notice issued by JPKE which has to be clearly displayed at a visible spot in the business premises.

JPKE said no cheap sale price events are allowed to be conducted seven days prior to the commencement of the event, except for businesses with sales notifications issued prior to the announcement of Jualan Aneka Brunei 2018. The last day for businesses to conduct a normal cheap sale price event is today.

The Jualan Aneka Brunei 2018 notification form and the conditions for participation can be downloaded from JPKE’s website at www.depd.gov.bn. It can be also obtained from the department’s office at Jalan Ong Sum Ping.

The completed form and price list can be submitted through e-mail at sales@jpke.gov.bn or at the department’s address not later than May 8.

Any inquiries relating to Jualan Aneka Brunei 2018, businesses and members of the public are advised to contact the Department of Competition and Consumer Affairs, JPKE directly through the SmartConsumer mobile application, or through telephone 2230223 (office hours), or e-mail at sales@jpke.gov.bn.

JPKE’s office can be directly contacted at Department of Competition and Consumer Affairs, Department of Economic Planning and Development, Room 2A 3.06, Level 3, West Wing Block 2A, Jalan Ong Sum Ping, BA1131.
