THE Brunei Darussalam Fencing Federation (BDFF) participated in the West Java International Open Fencing Championship in Indonesia held from April 28 to 29.
Members Corporal Yunus Hamid, Dayangku Siti Syahirah binti Pengiran Idris, and Hajah Anis Sabrina binti Yahya participated.
Secretary General of BDFF Major (U) Nashriq Moksin and National Fencing Coach Rocky Poerawinata were also present.
Corporal Yunus Hamid won the gold medal in the West Java International Open Fencing Championship.
In the quarterfinal, Yunus cameback from 4-8 against Taufan Aditya Soleman (INA) to win 15-14.
He cruised through to the final with a 15-9 win. In the final, Yunus defeated Diko Arfandi (INA) 15-11 to win the gold medal.
Major (U) Nashriq Moksin said, “All his bouts were difficult and hard fought. It is an achievement for him since he is also one of the candidates for the Asian Games 2018 in August.”
