A BLOOD donation drive was hosted by Baker Hughes (BHGE) at its main offices at the Light Industrial Area, Kuala Belait yesterday.
The blood drive, the first held by the company, was organised as part of activities falling under the company’s health-focussed ‘Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)’ theme for 2018, and to help bolster the supplies of blood in blood banks throughout the country in anticipation of the Ramadhan period.
It serves to promote the importance of donating blood to those in need as well as to highlight the benefits donating blood brings to donors’ health.
Present were medical staff from the Blood Donation Centre of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital, Bandar Seri Begawan.
Participating in the campaign were over 42 of Baker Hughes’ staff members and senior management team along with their family members.
Notable blood donors included BHGE’s HSE Manager Abdul Khalid bin Haji Jalil, BHGE’s Human Relation lead Muhammad Firdaus bin Haji Mohamad Deli, as well as operations managers Chong Oi Yin and Waqas Munir.
A total of 38 pints of blood was collected.
Meanwhile in a separate event, the company conducted a large-scale fire drill at their main office recently with the help from a paramedics team, security officers from Daimum Security, as well as personnel and a hazmat team from the Fire and Rescue Department.
The drill, participated by over 93 of the company’s staff, sought to familiarise staff on the best approach to take when responding to emergency fire situations.
Among the activities carried out during the drill included the playing out of various simulated fire scenarios, as well as a demonstration of proper evacuation and first aid administration procedures.
