HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, yesterday afternoon paid a visit to the Indonesian National Armed Forces’ (TNI) Headquarters in Cilangkap, Jakarta.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
Upon arrival at the TNI Headquarters, His Majesty was greeted by Dato Laila Utama Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia; Air Chief Marshal TNI Hadi Tjahjanto, the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces; General Mulyono, Chief of Staff Indonesian Army; Admiral Ade Supandi, Chief of Staff Indonesian Navy; and Air Chief Marshal Yuyu Sutisna, Chief of Staff Indonesian Air Force.
His Majesty then joined the President of the Republic of Indonesia and TNI’s senior officers for a group photograph session.
From there, His Majesty proceeded to a special dais to watch a military demonstration by the TNI Indonesian Army Special Forces Command (Kopassus); TNI Air Force (Paskhas) and TNI Marine Corps (Marinir).
Afterwards, His Majesty signed a parchment to mark the monarch’s visit to the headquarters, and was accompanied by the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces.
Thereafter, His Majesty was ushered to view various military equipment and capabilities of the Indonesian National Army and the Indonesian Strategic Industry Exhibition.
The exhibition showcases military facilities and equipment supplied by several military companies in Indonesia.
His Majesty was awarded as an honorary member of the Kopassus and the Marinir during the monarch’s State Visit in 2003 and also awarded as an honorary member of the Air Force Infantry and Special Forces Corps of the Paskhas in 2008 by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who was the then-president of the Republic of Indonesia.
