MINISTER of Health Dato Paduka Dr Haji Md Isham bin Jaafar, who is also the Executive Director of Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC), joined the public in the ‘Spinning Charity Event’ which was held as part of the JPMC Open Day to celebrate the International Nurses’ Day.

The event aimed at introducing to the members of the public the art of cutting-edge stationary cycling, focussing on endurance, strength and interval exercising, while contributing to a charity. The proceeds of the programme will be donated to the Brunei Down Syndrome Association (ABLE Brunei) in support of their initiatives to train, educate and give care to children with Down syndrome.

The second session of the JPMC Spinning Charity Event will take place tomorrow from 10-11.30am. Both spinning events will be held with support from the team at Bounce & Cycle XL Cycling Studio in Rimba.

Meanwhile, the JPMC Open Day aimed to honour the contributions, devotion and passion of nurses, midwives and other health professionals towards the delivery of healthcare will be celebrated on May 12, the birth day of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The event will be held at the JPMC General Ward, CME Room and Aerobics Hall, Level 1, JPMC.

In addition, JPMC’s services will be showcased through clinical stalls and exhibitions. Mini games, face painting, caricature and henna will also be available for members of the public.

This year’s event will be an eye-opener for the public. JPMC aims to revolutionise the health industry in Brunei with the objective to educate and provide a perspective to the public on how the hospital operates. JPMC has set up various healthcare studios designed to entertain and educate people of all ages.

For students and graduates who are interested in taking up nursing job at one of Brunei’s premier private healthcare institutions, this will be an ideal opportunity to get information on their career path and opportunities.
