MIB Forum in Mandarin highlights nation’s precious legacy

A MALAY Islamic Monarchy (MIB) Forum was organised yesterday by the Brunei-China Friendship Association (BCFA) in cooperation with Pilihan FM (Mandarin) of Radio Brunei at the Dewan Raya of RTB, Bandar Seri Begawan.

The guest of honour was Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, the Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara.

Also present were Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin; Yang Jian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam; Dr Muhammad Firdaus bin Abdul Rahman, President of BCFA, along with Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu, Director of RTB, in their capacity as the co-chairmen of the forum; government senior officers, as well as members of BCFA and students of Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan.

After the arrival of the guest of honour, Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa Selamat were recited, followed by a brief welcoming speech by the President of BCFA.

The guest of honour in a sabda highlighted that MIB has a long history and is seen as a precious legacy for the country, as the security achieved by the Sultanate today comes from the uniqueness and privileges found in the MIB concept.

The guest of honour added that besides the people of Brunei Darussalam, foreigners residing in the country need to adapt to the MIB concept of life as it is the foundation of national unity.

The Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara went on to express his joy for the organisers’ initiative in promoting the MIB concept through the hosting of the forum conducted in Mandarin, which not only catered to the people and local residents within the Tiong Hua society, but also allowed foreign investors and foreign nationals in the country to understand and appreciate the concept of MIB.

“With good cultural values and characteristics, it can create a spirit of loyalty to the king and state,” said the guest of honour.

The event continued with the forum panel that comprised Dr Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Md Melayong, Senior Special Duties Officer at the Secretariat Office of the MIB Supreme Council; Ustaz Kamal Leang bin Abdullah, a Religious Teacher at the Islamic Da’wah Centre under the Ministry of Religious Affairs; as well as Dr Muhammad Firdaus; discussing topics such as ‘Melayu Islam Beraja: Cara Hidup Masyarakat Brunei’ (Malay Islamic Monarchy: A Way of Life for the Brunei Society), ‘Kepentingan Pemahaman Terhadap Islam’ (The Importance of Understanding Islam), and ‘Sinopsis Melayu Islam Beraja’ (Malay Islamic Monarchy Synopsis).

The event also saw a question and answer session.

The objective of the forum was to aid the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in promoting the concept of MIB.
