THE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports will continue to ensure that there is a platform and support for youths.
Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports stated this in his remarks at the end of the Plenary Session of the Youth Business Talk 2018 programme on Thursday, at the Youth Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan.
He highlighted that the issue is of importance for the ministry. “We have already provided the platform. We must ensure that it continues and support is given to our youths.
“We must make sure that we are able to handle the changes in the global market and arena,” he said.
He added, “The youths should be nurtured, and opportunities given to them, so they can start or support their own entrepreneurship skills.”
He also underlined the importance of recognition, specifically with regards to sharing success stories of the youths. “We must further support them so that they are able to move, and never satisfied with one achievement.”

The minister addressed the youths and urged them to be catalysts, and begin their own entrepreneurship journeys.
The plenary session also featured a forum on ‘The Difference between an Entrepreneur and a Businessman’. The topic was discussed by a panel comprising Dato Paduka Haji Hamdillah bin Haji Abdul Wahab; Programme Director of LiveWIRE Brunei Pengiran Redzuan bin Pengiran Haji Abbas; Chief Marketing Officer of Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd Devin Edwards; Director of Geotraxx Reduan bin Yusof; and Director of Big BWN Norhafizah binti Haji Rashid.
In his closing remarks, the minister also shared his observations and key points from the panel discussion, including the importance of flexibility in entrepreneurship.
He brought up the point that enterprising minds produce enterprising societies, and said, “You are here to gain knowledge, to have an enterprising mind to be able to contribute to the nation by being an enterprising society.”
He noted the importance of grabbing opportunities, while being wise in their investments. “Time is of the essence, but do not make hasty decisions.”
The minister also stressed the importance of not giving up, and to make contributions to the community and country.
