THE Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Brunei Darussalam recently launched Celebrating Alumni Stories, a commemorative book containing the personal testimonials of over 70 USA exchange programme alumni from Brunei. A video reception event was hosted by the US Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Craig Allen at his residence.
More than 80 alumni of USA Government exchange programmes attended the special occasion.
The invited guests were alumni from programmes such as the Fulbright Programme, the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP), the Southeast Asian Leaders Youth Leadership Programme (SEAYLP), the Study of US Institutes Programme (SUSI), the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), among others.
The ambassador in his remarks said, “As USA exchange programme alumni, you represent an important and direct connection between our two countries, and will strengthen US-Brunei relations for years to come.
“By generating and sustaining personal contact, a strong alumni network is perhaps the best foundation for positive relations between countries…. I hope you remain a diverse and vibrant alumni group that continues to contribute to Brunei, to Southeast Asia, and to the USA-Brunei connection.”
