SERIKANDI Group of Companies achieved another milestone venturing into the capital intensive and technical marine business, after launching the MV Nautical Aisya vessel at the Muara Port yesterday.
Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof yesterday attended the launching event.
In a welcoming speech Chief Executive Officer of Serikandi Group Shaikh Haji Khalid bin Shaikh Haji Ahmad, speaking on behalf of Jisco-TBR Marine Jv Sdn Bhd, said the MV Nautical Aisya has a 85-metre Dynamic Positioning 2 vessel, with a capacity to accommodate 329 people. The accomodation work boat is registered in Brunei and will serve under Brunei Shell Petroleum’s Marine Department for five years, with the Well Service Department as the end user.
“With blessings from Allah the Almighty and hard work from the team, we witness a remarkable success. Our business have reached many of its achievements and challenges for the past 44 years in Brunei Darussalam,” said Shaikh Haji Khalid.
Also present at the event yesterday were ambassadors; high-ranking officers from the Brunei Marine Department, Brunei Shell Petroleum, Baiduri Bank and TBR Holdings; vessel manager representative; marine consultant; Serikandi Group of Companies management team and other guests.
The Minister of Defence II also toured the vessel and performed the ‘Menepung Tawar’ (sprinkling of scented flowers) on the main deck of the vessel.
The Serikandi Group of Companies also contributed life jackets to the Maritime and Port Authority as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibilities.
