THE Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) has announced that it will be organising mass Subuh prayer every Friday during Ramadhan, at selected mosques, suraus and religious halls across the Sultanate.
Yesterday, in the Brunei-Muara District, the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah was the main focal point, with the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, attending the first in the series of the mass Subuh prayer programme.
The event began with mass Subuh prayer and a mass recitation of Surah Al-Kahf.
This was followed with a special lecture (Tadabbur Al-Quran) by Ustaz Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak, an accredited Da’ie from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB).
The religious ceremony ended with the Doa ‘Peliharakan Sultan dan Brunei Darussalam’, recited by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Mustafa bin Haji Murat, a mosque officer at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah.
Also in attendance was the Permanent Secretary at the MoRA, Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof; the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administrative and Financial Affairs) at the MoRA, Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah; and the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA, Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang.
In the Tutong District, the mass Subuh prayer at the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque were attended by Haji Adnan bin Haji Adam, the Acting Tutong District Officer.
In the Belait District, the mass prayer were held at the Zainab Mosque in Lumut, which saw the presence of YB Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, a Legislative Council (LegCo) member and the Penghulu of Mukim Liang.
In the Temburong District, the programme was held at the Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque and attended by Captain Abdul Mujib bin Japar, the Commander of Bangar Camp.
MoRA’s weekly programme is aimed at fostering a sense of unity among the Muslim community, while at the same time enlivening the holy month of Ramadhan through nightly prayer vigils and Al-Quran recitations.
