THE Welfare Body for Muslim Converts of Kampong Kiudang Welfare Body (BASKIM) started its annual house-to-house Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony on Friday in conjunction with Ramadhan.
The ceremony is also an effort to encourage new Muslim brothers and sisters to read Al-Quran together and help them to improve their reading in the holy month.
According to BASKIM Secretary, Haji Saifulbahri bin Haji Umarali, the Chairman of the Tedarus committee, this year the event is held in seven houses; starting on May 18 and will continue on May 22, 26, 31, and June 2 and 3 with the closing ceremony on June 5.
The first event was held at the residence of YB Haji Umarali bin Esung, member of the Legislative Council, who is also an Advisor to BASKIM.
The event saw a presentation of Kurma Kurnia Peribadi from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to BASKIM members who participated in the Tedarus house-to-house programme by Acting Village Head of Kampong Kiudang, Pengiran Haji Kahar bin Pengiran Haji Tengah.
Also in attendance were YB Haji Umarali, Penghulu of Mukim Kiudang Haji Abdul Rahim bin Abdullah Yakin; Pengiran Haji Kahar; Deputy Chairman of Kampong Kiudang Village Consultative Council, Muhammad Amir bin Haji Umarali; and members of the village consultative council.
