CAST and crew of the upcoming Hari Raya movie, Hari Minggu Yang Ke-Empat (HMYK4) recently finished more than two weeks of shooting and will proceed to post-production, to make it for the release slated on June 18.
This was revealed by HMYK4 Director, Siti Kamaluddin, during an interview with the Bulletin where she lauded the young cast and crew for their hard work and commitment towards the making of this second featured film by Origin Artistic.
The director cast locals for the film. The cast includes actress Liyana Yus, social media sensation Kai Anuar, also known as Babu Si Nur and new faces lan Zulkifli and Tey Wan.
“It is a huge challenge to coordinate and bring together an ensemble cast like this, making sure everybody is functioning properly and on time because it is a steep learning curve.
“However, the experience of working with the talents and crew was excellent,” she chimed, adding that even working with a “fresh” new team, “Everybody is so enthusiastic about helping one another.”
The film’s greatest strength is the performance by lead actor, Kai Anuar, who displayed dedication, and commitment during shooting despite the recent loss of his grandfather while working on the film.
Many would recognise Siti as the director of Brunei’s first featured film Yasmine, which received several accolades since its release in 2014.
She admitted that compared to her last film, HMYK4 was “a lot more personal”.
“The hard work will surely pay off as this film couldn’t have come at a more opportune time,” she noted, before adding, “It’s made by Bruneians, for Bruneians, during one of our biggest celebrations of the year.”
The director hoped everyone will support the film once it is released in local cinemas.
“Unlike Yasmine, this film is also a very interesting model for me, as I worked with a Brunei-friendly budget. Hopefully we can draw a good response for the film and maybe progress to making a few movies a year,” she added.
The director also hoped more locals will venture into the film scene, making it into an industry that can contribute to the economy.
