THE Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board conducted a surprise inspection on stalls at the surrounding area of Tudung Saji, Kuala Belait to ensure the safety of visitors and vendors of the Ramadhan bazaar in the district.
With over 180 stalls set up across the area of Tudung Saji and the parking lot, the inspection led by the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board was accompanied by over five other agencies including the Halal Food Control Division, Department of Electrical Services, Fire and Rescue Department, Health Services Department and RYS Entertainment.
Aimed at ensuring and maintaining the cleanliness of the surrounding area during the course of the Ramadhan bazaar, the inspection was also an opportunity to highlight any issues or hazards that can endanger the vendors and visitors of the Ramadhan bazaar.
The inspection also helped highlight issues faced by vendors in the Ramadhan bazaar and disseminate information on the importance of maintaining the safety of the Ramadhan bazaar by complying with the rules and regulations set by the authorities.
Among the various aspects scrutinised during the inspection of the booths at the Ramadhan bazaar included ensuring proper connection between gas sources to cooking equipment; ensuring proper use and continuous maintenance of cooking equipment; ensure surrounding environment is kept clean and free from food waste; and checking the use of electric outlets to ensure they are not overloaded with many electric appliances plugged into one outlet.
