THE youth association of Ikatan Persatuan Belia Bunut (IKERAB) committee members handed over donations to orphans as part of its charity project on June 10.
The project aimed to instil awareness among youth to carry out more religious activities, especially in the holy month of Ramadhan and help ease the burdens of the recipients to prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya celebration.
The guest of honour was Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin and spouse. Also present were Penghulu of Mukim Kilanas Haji Abdullah bin Haji Halus; Acting Village Head of Kampong Bunut Perpindahan Haji Durahim bin Duraman and village residents.
Chairperson of the committee Pengiran Haji Wahab bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim said the donations, worth BND8,592, were handed over to 59 orphans.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by Khatam Al-Quran by 30 Kampong Bunut Perpindahan Mosque youth. The donations were handed over prior to breaking of fast and Maghrib prayer.
