THE Oil and Gas Discovery Centre (OGDC) handed out donations to the less fortunate during its ‘Ramadhan Care Programme’ yesterday at the OGDC Exhibition Hall and Main Hall of the Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC).

Participating in the programme were more than 30 orphans from the Belait District, as well as around 25 students, teachers, and family members from the Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei who were invited by OGDC to partake in the event for the first time.

The ‘Ramadhan Care Programme’ is among OGDC’s charity programmes organised to hand out donations or assistance in the form of various basic necessities including food supplies to the less fortunate, not only during Ramadhan, but also during other special occasions throughout the year.

To bring further joy to the donation recipients in the fasting month and to give them the chance to learn more about the centre and Brunei’s oil and gas industry, the OGDC also organised special free visits for them to the centre’s exhibition halls.

There, the participants toured the Explore-a-saurus exhibition, where they had the chance to check out the various dinosaur exhibits.

President of SMARTER Brunei Malai Haji Abdullah bin Malai Haji Othman said, “The visit to the exhibition hall of OGDC is not only a privilege for SMARTER Brunei, but it also provides an exciting and hands-on experience for the students because they can explore the various exhibits set up within the halls.”

The students were handed over various goodies by OGDC at the end of their visit later in the afternoon, and each of them received additional donation items comprised of basic necessities and a bag of rice (contributions from members of the public) from the BSRC at the club’s Grand Ballroom.

The programme officially came to a close with the recipients joining OGDC and BSRC staff for Iftar at the same venue.
