BRUNEI Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) Honorary Secretary Ang Beng Siong has announced the immediate plans of the association in the competitions calendar for the second half of 2018.
The local swimmers will be looking to get back in the competitive spirit following a lengthy break since the Brunei Age Group Swimming Championships last April.
“We are preparing for the Brunei Open and Masters from August 31 to September 2,” said Ang in an interview with the media recently.
He added that the key events of the calendar include the next age group competition for 7-9 years and the inter-club event.
The honorary secretary also shared that they are preparing for the FINA World Championships at Hangzhou in December.
Asked on the possibility of being selected for the Asian Games, he said that they will not be represented but they are looking forward to the Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) Games and the Southeast Asian (SEA) Age Group.
“We are looking for Sukma and we will also be sending a team for the SEA Age Group. We have a team of four swimmers (two boys and two girls) going to the Philippines to compete in the SEA Age Group from July 6 – 8,” he added.
