IN PREPARATION for the upcoming 72nd birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, a series of practice sessions are currently being conducted in the Belait District.
Present to oversee the first of many practice sessions at the Municipal Field in Kuala Belait was Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong in his capacity as Chairman of the National Executive Committee for His Majesty’s 72nd birthday celebration.
Also present were Legislative Council members, permanent secretary, deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Acting Belait District Officer, senior officers from the MoHA and the Belait District Office, and committee members in charge of planning and organising His Majesty’s 72nd birthday celebration.
Participants at the session comprised students from schools across the Belait District, youth from the National Service Programme (PKBN), representatives of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and staff from government agencies and associations in the Belait District.
The rehearsal was conducted to help them familiarise with the events which will be showcased during His Majesty’s visit to the district.
His Majesty will visit the Belait District as part of an annual get-together with the residents on July 21, while a similar event is also scheduled on July 19 for the Tutong District, July 24 for the Temburong District and July 29 for the Brunei-Muara District.
