Sweet treat for Chinese students during Tutong District visit

CHINESE students accompanied by Jerudong International School (JIS) students recently visited the Tutong District and watched a full-dress rehearsal of the special field performance for His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s upcoming meet-and-greet session with the people in the district in conjunction with His Majesty’s 72nd birthday celebration.

The Chinese students were in Brunei Darussalam for their summer camp at JIS.

By witnessing the multi-ethnic residents of Tutong District dressed in traditional attire and practising their stage performances at the rehearsal, the Chinese students learnt the many aspects of ethnic traditions of the people in the country.

After the full-dress rehearsal, the Chinese students visited the One Village One Product (1K1P) Gallery at the Tutong District Office in Pekan Tutong which displays and sells different authentic local products made by village residents in the Tutong District.

The students were also briefed on the many attractive destinations in Tutong District at the Tutong District Office.

Before leaving the Tutong District Office, the Chinese students took a group photo at a landmark area in the Tutong District and toured around the old areas of Pekan Tutong.

Tutong District Tourism Coordination and Promotion Body member Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan briefed them on the landmark sign of ‘Sungai Tutong’ adjacent to Pekan Tutong.

The Tutong District visit concluded with the Chinese students visiting Kampong Sungai Kelugos to see a local Madu Kelulut (honey) producer Tasbee picking honey from a wild bee (Kelulut) nest, in which they also attempted to pick honey from the nest.

They also visited the Kelulut gallery.
