SEVERAL road closures in Pekan Tutong are set to take place during the Junjung Ziarah (get-together) ceremony with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam tomorrow.

With thousands of people expected to gather at the get-together venue, the ceremonial field of the Tutong District Civic Centre Complex, the public are urged to follow regulations and police instructions throughout the day to ensure that the ceremony runs smoothly.

This was stated by Tutong District Police Traffic Officer ASP Dayangku Husmawati binti Pengiran Hussin during a press conference on the road closure yesterday.

Among the roads to be closed during the day include the one leading from Simpang No 59 – which is the area near the TelBru building – until Simpang Jalan Sungai Besar, from 8.30am.

Meanwhile, the road from Simpang Jalan Sungai Besar until the junction leading to the Tutong District Officer’s official residence will be closed starting 9.30am to clear the way for the arrival of His Majesty.

The public are reminded not to park their cars at the pedestrian walkway and in areas with ‘No Parking’ signs.

ASP Dayangku Husmawati advised all motorists without special passes to follow instructions to prevent any untoward incidents. Invited guests are to display their special passes for easier access to designated parking zones. They are also advised to be present at the venue before 8am.

“Members of the public attending the event are advised to arrive much earlier and park their cars at designated locations. They should also not leave valuable items in their cars,” added ASP Dayangku Husmawati.
