LCY Development Sdn Bhd was issued with a temporary notice of suspension of their Rent and Hire Licence for three months and another driver of the company was fined BND500 for a fourth offence of carrying excessive load.
Nine drivers from several transport companies were also compounded during a patrol by the Enforcement Division of the Land Transport Department (JPD) recently at Jalan Kuala Lurah, Jalan Perusahaan Serasa, Muara Area and Telisai-Lumut Highway.
The offences included carrying excessive loads and BND50 fine for it (for first offence). Offences such as installing coloured lights other than white in front of the vehicle and offence for driving with a bald tyre and in poor condition come with a BND50 compound fine (for first offence) and six Driver Safety Practice System (SiKAP) demerit points. A fine of BND100 (first offence) and three SiKAP demerit points were also imposed on falling loads from the vehicle.
The JPD will continue patrolling and monitoring the roads to ensure the safety, wellbeing and comfort of the public, especially road users.
Any driver failing to comply with the road traffic rules and regulations will be subjected to SiKAP’s demerit points and fine, while the Rent and Hire Licence of transportation companies will be suspended for three months.
