A MASSIVE blaze on Thursday evening destroyed a car workshop and a bungalow house at Kampong Masin that stored vehicles’ spare part and used cars.

According to a statement issued by the Fire and Rescue Department yesterday, the fire was reported at 6.05pm and firefighters from Pengkalan Batu Fire Station, supported by Jerudong Fire Station as well as Berakas Fire Station, rushed to the scene.

Led by Acting Assistant Superintendent Pengiran Ali Abdul Rahman bin Pengiran Halus, 18 firefighters were involved in the operation to combat the fire. They managed to put the fire under control within eight minutes by using six jet hoses utilising water from a nearby fire hydrant.

The cost of the damages is still under investigation.

In light of the incident, the Fire and Rescue Department reminded the public to not overload electrical systems; to switch off all electrical appliances when not in use; and to ensure any electrical wiring is in good condition and done by accredited companies.
