DELADI Petroleum Services, based in Kuala Belait, is sending two of its young Bruneian technicians for another African-bound project in Gabon, expected to be completed within two weeks.
The new project in Gabon marks continuing efforts by Deladi to expand its technical services outside Brunei, and to develop its Bruneian workforce outside the country.
Deladi has so far completed upgrades or refurbishments to 50 generator and gas compressor packages, more than half of which are outside Brunei.
This new project will be added into the company’s profile of overseas works that include those undertaken in other countries such as Nigeria, Angola, India, Thailand and Malaysia.
The company currently employs around 10 Bruneians to be developed as turbine experts. This number will increase in the coming years as business opportunities develop.
The overseas projects were awarded to Deladi by its principal, Solar Turbines International.
This is part of Solar’s commitment to provide Deladi with ever increasing exposure to overseas works. Deladi has represented Solar Turbines International in the Sultanate since 1991, and has performed a number of retrofit and refurbishment projects jointly with Solar on Brunei Shell Petroleum’s Solar turbine fleet.
Solar Turbines International has been very supportive in terms of giving opportunities to Deladi to develop its Bruneian workforce.
Deladi is looking forward to more young Bruneians joining its team, and becoming a provider of specialised technical services to the oil and gas industry worldwide.
