THE Lions Club of Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) and Sunil’s Emporium yesterday held a bag-making workshop for students of Pusat Bahagia in the Tutong District.
Lions Club BSB President Sunil Kumar Ramchandani and Club Treasurer Maya Kumar Ramchandani launched the two-day workshop held until today.
Club Secretary Nur Judy binti Abdullah, Pusat Bahagia (Tutong) Head Pengiran Mohd Najib bin Pengiran Haji Mulek and Pusat Bahagia officials were also in attendance.
Sunil’s Emporium tailors will train the 12 students on design options and pattern cutting.
Pusat Bahagia Tutong offers an array of products and the Lions Club BSB is looking at how these products can be introduced and given better exposure to the marketplace.
The created bags will be available for sale at Sunil’s Emporium. All raw materials including fabrics and laces are provided by the emporium.
The bag making is a joint project between the club and Sunil’s Emporium. It is also part of the club’s social enterprise project in equipping youth with skills to generate an income through bag making.
The effort also heeds the call by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for youth to be more entrepreneurial.
