MEMBERS of the public were treated to a night of music and multi-cultural performances from around the region at the much-awaited Progresif Cultural Night.
The three-hour show was held at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre which displayed the rich cultural diversity in Brunei through a series of dance and song performances. The show included Bruneian contemporary dance, Northern Thailand’s cultural dance, the Philippines’ traditional and modern dance as well as performances from the Indonesian, Malaysian, Indian and Bangladeshi communities.
For the first time this year, the British community in Brunei performed the Scottish Bagpipes while the New Zealanders performed their traditional Maori and Haka dance. Apart from the performances, Progresif hosted interactive games and quizzes where the audience got the chance to win exclusive prizes offered by the company. Present as the guest of honour was Board member of Progresif Edzwan Zukri bin Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Adanan. Also present were CEO of Progresif Paul Taylor, members of the Diplomatic Corps, strategic partners, Progresif subscribers and members of the public. As part of Progresif’s commitment to support local entrepreneurship, the company also featured 20 local food vendors during the show, collaborating with local event management firm Big BWN Cookout.
The event was held as part of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ’Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 72nd birthday celebrations.
