A MASS Sunnat lunar eclipse prayer was held yesterday at 4.20am at all mosques, suraus and religious halls across the nation.
The main event was held at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital where the prayer was led by Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque Officer Mohamad Hasnal bin Haji Mohammad. The Khatib of the event was Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque Superintendent Zulkifli bin Haji Murat.
In the Khutbah (sermon), it was highlighted that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) encouraged Muslims to perform beneficial acts such as prayers, zikir, give Sedekah (charity), Istighfar and always be engaged in the remembrance of Allah the Almighty whenever lunar eclipse occur. It also emphasised that Muslims should also seek for repentance from Allah the Almighty and avoid actions that are contrary to Islamic teachings.
It continued with a mass Subuh prayer followed with a Tazkirah by Director of the Language Centre of the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr Haji Hambali bin Haji Jaili.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Communications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, directors, senior officers and staff members of MoRA as well as residents and congregants within the vicinity were present.
